The staffless library allows you to access the library outside ordinary opening hours. The library will in this period be self-service only.
To gain access to the staffless library you must be a registered user with a library card. You must sign the staffless library agreement to upgrade your library card to entry card status. You can sign the agreement at any Bærum library branch, and you must present a valid ID.
To gain entry to the library during staffless hours, you scan your library card and enter your PIN code on the card reader next to the entrance. You can also use your digital library card, which you can find in the Bibliofil app.
You must be minimum 18 years of age to access the staffless library. Your library card is for your entry only. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for accompanying children under the age of 18. For their own safety, minors should not be left alone in the library during staffless hours.
To use the library during staffless hours you must abide by the rules. Bærum library reserves the right to cancel access to the staffless library if the user does not abide by these rules, the terms of the agreement are broken, or annoys other users. The library is a public space where everybody should feel content.
Staffless library is available at all our branches – Bekkestua, Sandvika, Rykkinn, Eiksmarka and Høvik.

During staffless hours you can:

- Borrow, return, and pick up holds
- Read magazines and books
- Use computers and wi-fi
- Print documents
The staffless library at Bekkestua
The Bekkestua library has a separate, signed entrance during staffless hours.
The downstairs area and the materials there are not available during staffless hours.
There is limited access to the toilet facilities during staffless hours. There is one toilet accessible in the children’s area.
The photocopier and Playstation are unavailable during staffless hours.

Monday-Thursday: 8.00-10.00 and 19:00-22:00
Friday: 8:00-10:00 and 17:00-22:00
Saturday: 8:00-10:00 and 16:00-22:00
Sunday: 8:00-22:00
Security
The library is under camera surveillance during staffless hours, in compliance with information security policies. Recordings are stored in compliance with relevant policies, and are automatically deleted after 7 days.
